Gateway to Certified Local Governments
In 2017, the National Park Service's State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division (STLPG) staff developed the Gateway to Certified Local Governments Web Application in order to better visualize the connection between areas managed by the NPS and CLG gateway communities using geospatial data. The goal in developing this ESRI product was to facilitate opportunities for better collaboration between NPS units and their surrounding communities, particularly CLGs. As CLGs undertake historic preservation projects, partnering with park staff and leadership can offer opportunities to preserve and highlight special places and stories of American history together.
To help users become familiar with the application, STLPG has provided a short video tutorial.
Nationwide Impact of the Historic Preservation Fund
Every year, thousands of grant recipients work on projects across the country to preserve historic resources in communities from American Samoa to Maine. The HPF annual report outlines the broad accomplishments of Historic Preservation Fund supported grants.
