What’s happening? The location of our security screening facility and ferry service has moved about 300 yards north (away from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal) from the previous screening facility. This location is still on The Battery waterfront and is adjacent to Castle Clinton National Monument.
Why are we doing this project? The impact of Hurricane Sandy on lower Manhattan was devastating. In response, the City of New York has been working on The Battery Coastal Resilience project. Part of the project is the reconstruction and elevation of the waterfront promenade above sea level rise projections.
How will this project impact your visit? We strongly encourage our visitors to purchase their tickets in advance at the ONLY authorized ferry ticket seller for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island – Statue City Cruises. The time printed on your reserve ticket is the approximate time you will be joining the line at the security screening facility, not the ferry departure time. Also, you cannot arrive more than 30 minutes before your reserved ticket time. Advanced Purchase Crown Ticket Holders must check in at the kiosk in Castle Clinton National Monument before going through security screening and boarding the ferry on the day of their visit. Prohibited Items can be found here.
When will this happen? The relocation happened on Friday, March 6, 2026.
