Fire crews from the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and San Juan County completed a successful prescribed fire on a 15-acre section of Young Hill's south slope at English Camp. The fire commenced at 11 a.m. and was completed by 2:45 p.m.
Through a cooperative effort between the park and citizen representing mixed recreational users, the Mitchell Hill trail network promises to become one of the top recreational venues on the island.
The American Camp bald eagles' nest has been a constant in the visitor parking area for more than 12 years.
