November 16, 2019 Posted by: Anna Mateljak
Removal of debris from demolition activities continue in preparation for surveying activities to mark areas for new construction. Surveying activities included establishing grid lines, elevations, delineate new drainage fields, and establishing new center line for the new access road. Salvaged materials were bundled for transport, while demoed concrete was removed from the new Visitor Center footprint.

Tree removal commenced for the biologist-approved trees north of the site. Precautions were placed to keep disturbance at a minimum in the area surrounding the existing eagle’s nest. Prior to surveying activities, National Park Service Archeologist orientated the contractor and surveyors about the archeological and historic significance of the site and precautionary steps to uncovering historic artifacts.
