This week, work to complete the remaining gravel sub-base material for the Visitor’s Center footprint occurred in preparation for electrical and plumbing activities.
Because the new visitor center will have a roof canopy and an outer interpretive trellis area, the foundation and support structure involves fabrication of rebar cages for the concrete support pedestals and then formwork construction for concrete support pedestals around those rebar cages.
Electrical and plumbing under-slab infrastructure work was started with rough plumbing the waste lines for bathroom. Conduit sleeves and piping was installed through foundation walls and into future electrical room.
Just outside of the Visitor Center, on the way to the American Camp parade grounds, there will be an interpretive plaza that will have interpretive panels mounted on trellis. The framing of the concrete piers to support the trellis structure were constructed and poured.
Construction of waste line plumbing and electraical conduit are dug and installed in the compacted foundation sub-base.
