Visitation in many national parks around the Great Lakes is on the rise, and managers are working to accommodate more people while continuing to protect park resources. But do the higher numbers of people impact visitor behavior? Dr. Ingrid E. Schneider from the University of Minnesota, Department of Forest Resources, and her graduate research assistants Benjamin Pflughoeft and Ami Choi, wanted to know. They recently published a paper on their research project to evaluate conditions and visitor perceptions of crowding and potential displacement from Miners Beach at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Curious about what they learned? Check out the executive summary or the entire paper!
