Captain Penniman became one of the most successful whaling captains in New England. After his fourth voyage, he returned home to Eastham to build a home for his family on 12 acres purchased from his father. Explore his 1868 home and learn about his family's hardships, adventures, and lifestyle.

Meet at the Penniman House at Fort Hill, 70 Fort Hill Road, Eastham.
From the Orleans rotary, travel north on Route 6 for 1.8 miles. Take a right turn onto Fort Hill Road, marked with a brown sign that says ""Fort Hill."" Drive and follow the Fort Hill signs until you see the yellow and red Captain Penniman house on the right. The parking lot will be on the left across from the Penniman house. From Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham, drive south on Route 6 1.5 miles. Watch for the Fort Hill sign on the left. Turn left onto Fort Hill road, drive until you see the red and yellow Penniman house on the right. Park in the lot across from Penniman house on the left.
