Bamboo is a wonderfully complex art material that can be used in a variety of ways to create form. It can be split into narrow strips, bent, crosscut, woven, sewn, and drilled. It can be used to make small scale objects or architectural structures. In this class we will explore using small bamboo and glass elements to create vessel forms that play with light and shadow. Come learn how to cut, heat bend, drill, weave, and sew bamboo together. Basic tool skills will be covered and how to incorporate small pre-made glass elements using creative stitching techniques. Examples of various bamboo techniques will be shown and participants will see through slide lecture the variety of ways bamboo can be used as an art material. Everyone will walk away with bamboo knowledge to create more at home. Beginner to Intermediate
