Contemplating Muir Woods

  • 07/28/2016 Location: Muir Woods Visitor Center, Time: 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM Fee Information: Included in Entrance Fee Contact Phone Number: 415-388-2596

For some people, Muir Woods is a park and place to get away from our day-to-day lives. For others it's a classroom, a place to learn, and for some, the forest is a temple of spirituality. Over the course of one hour and thirty minutes we will take a guided walk through Muir Woods and discover what the Redwood Forest means to you. The walk will focus on the general ecology and history of Muir Woods in the context of humanity's most prolific thinkers and writers, as they offer significant insight into the greater meaning and inherent value of the natural world. You can expect to hear quotes and small excerpts from the likes of John Muir, Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, among others. Their powerful words will serve to frame our own walk and perhaps inspire us to consider more deeply our own connection to this great redwood forest. The walk will be about two miles in length along the main trail, which is a flat, pleasant walk on hard surfaces. This program is open to all ages, but is recommended for adults.

Reservations are required - please call (415) 388-2596 to reserve your space.
