Dyea, Alaska has had long history beginning with use by Tlingit Alaska Natives.  During the Klondike Gold Rush it was a boomtown of over 5,000 people and the start of the Chilkoot Trail.  Today remnants of history are found in an ever changing natural area.  Park rangers share Dyea's history and natural community with visitors using historic photographs, pointing out historical artifacts, and introducing some of the plants and animals that make their home in Dyea today.

Note:  Transportation to the Dyea Townsite is not provided by the National Park Service.  Learn about transportation to Dyea on our tour details page.
