The National Park Service would like to invite the public to a free, guided-hike of Tavasci Marsh to celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 4, 2016.National Trails Day is an annual event organized by the American Hiking Society to encourage the public to get outside and enjoy our public lands.National Trails Day initiated in 1991 is scheduled every year for the first Saturday in June.

The nature hike will start at the Tuzigoot National Monument's Visitor Center at 8:00 am and last about an hour. Tavasci Marsh is recognized as a part of Audubon's Tuzigoot Important Birding Area. Nanette Armstrong of the Northern Arizona Audubon Society will help identify birds, although birding is not the walk's emphasis.

Participants are encouraged to bring water, a hat, binoculars, and wear good hiking shoes. The approximate 2-mile round-trip trail has a steep incline going into the marsh and goes over uneven terrain.Sunscreen and insect repellent are also recommended.
