Total Solar Eclipse Weekend

    On August 21st the sun, moon and earth will line up causing a shadow on the earth that will be seen from the Oregon coast to the South Carolina coast and the center of this path will experience total darkness.  Agate Fossil Beds National Monument is very near the center of this Path of Totality.

    Please be aware that the park is surrounded by private property.

    Sunday, August 20th
    2 p.m.                Kelly Looking Horse - Native American Perspective
    7 p.m.                Night Sky Ranger Program followed by a Star Party

    Monday, August 21st
    8 a.m.                Eclipse Yoga Honoring the Earth, Moon & Sun
    9 a.m.                Sun Print Paper Activity
    10 a.m.              Kelly Looking Horse - Native American Perspective
    10:25 a.m.         Start of partial Eclipse
    11:48 a.m.         Total Solar Eclipse lasting approximately 2 minutes
    1:14 p.m.           End of Eclipse

    DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN WITHOUT SOLAR GLASSES! There will be free glasses available while supplies last.

    During the weekend, Saturday through Monday, the Kelly Looking Horse family will be set up in the visitor center to show and sell their beadwork and other work and talk about their culture.

    On Sunday and Monday astronomers will be available to visit with the public about the Solar Eclipse and what we can see in the Night Skies.

    Food vendors will be available on Sunday and Monday.

    Solar Eclipse items will be available in the Oregon Trail Museum Association bookstore in the visitor center.  

    There is very limited cell coverage.
