Please join Glen Canyon's Night Ranger team as we examine the Sun's brilliant face through the lens of our specially equipped telescope! Look for a sunspot or watch a solar prominence looping thousands of miles from the sun’s surface! Learn more about the park and our commitment to preserving our view of the sky. Children, ages 5-12, will also have the opportunity to complete a Junior Ranger Night Explorer activity and earn their Glen Canyon Junior Ranger badge.
To observe the Sun safely, you need to filter out more than 99% of the Sun’s light before it reaches your eyes. It is very important that you not attempt to view the Sun without proper equipment.
This activity is weather dependent and may be canceled in the event of high wind or an unclear sky.
