Join a ranger for a guided hike into Horseshoe Canyon. Meet the ranger by the bulletin board at the west side trailhead of Horseshoe Canyon at 9 am. You do not need a reservation. Hikes with the ranger last 3 to 5 hours depending on the size of the group. At the end of the hike, you will hike out of the canyon on your own. This can take approximately 2 hours.

This is a strenuous hike covering 7 miles, part of this in deep sand, and includes a steep ascent of 800 feet elevation in 1 mile to exit the canyon.

You should be prepared with a gallon (4 L) of water per person, lunch and snacks, any medications you may need, sun protection, clothing appropriate for the weather, and good hiking shoes. We may cancel hikes due to flash flooding or thunderstorm activity.

The road to Horseshoe Canyon is normally a two-wheel-drive road. However, this can change quickly due to storms (rain or snow) and sand dunes blowing across the road. Call ahead for the latest road conditions if you are not driving a four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicle. Call 435-259-2652 between 8 am and 4:30 pm.
