Celebrate National Park Rx Day with a Walk at Mound City

    Take a step towards getting healthy in your National Park by joininga ranger-led walk at the Mound City Group Earthwork. The walk will take visitors along the shaded nature trail that winds around the perimeter of the earthwork and along a stretch of the Scioto River before entering the earthwork interior. Walkers will learn about Ohio's prehistoric past, while walking their way towards a healthier lifestyle. 

    "We know that an average of 22 minutes a day of physical activity –such as brisk walking in a National Park –can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes," said U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy. "The key is to get started because even a small first effort can make a big difference in improving the personal health of an individual and the public health of the nation.

    The program begins at 10:00 am.Meet at the Mound City Group Visitor Center located at the 16062 State Route 104, Chillicothe, 45601. All fitness levels welcome.
