In this fun-filled weekend workshop participants will learn how to turn 8" to 10" diameter platters out of poplar, cherry or maple. With a focus on using an Al Stirt style shear scraper, you will turn surfaces that require little or no sanding. The complexity of the platter shape and design details will be adjusted to match individual skill levels. Carl will bring a copy of Mark Baker's Woodturning Projects - A Workshop Guide to Shapes book which will be used as a source of inspiration for your designs. Participants will be encouraged to improvise and explore shapes to develop their own unique platters. Beginner and Beyond
