  To continue its "Year of the Bird"-themed programming, Chickasaw National Recreation Area will offer a special program at 2 p.m. on June 30th focusing on seafaring- and shore-birds.  Join rangers at the Travertine Nature Center to learn about these feathered travelers that call the park a temporary home.
  
  Chickasaw’s large stretches of water offer an ideal habitat for northern seafaring birds to find refuge and food during the winter months. Summertime brings numerous species of shorebirds to the edges of the lakes, ponds, and creeks that flow throughout the park. Visitors who attend this program will become acquainted with some of these lesser-known migrants and their habits.
