Woods Wellness Wednesdays

     Join a Muir Woods ranger for a wellness and exercise focused hike! Learn or brush up on your hiking knowledge. A ranger will guide you through old growth redwood forest, Douglas-Fir forest and coastal chaparral ecosystems on a 5 mile round-trip hike in and around Muir Woods National Monument. During the hike we will discuss map reading, the 10 Essentials of Hiking, and Leave No Trace practices. All ages and hiking experience levels welcome. 


    Route: Beginning at the Muir Woods Visitor Center, we will take the Main Trail to Ben Johnson Trail to the Dipsea trail, returning to Muir Woods.We will take a short detour on the Dipsea Trail to Cardiac Hill (water station) for sweeping views of the coast. This is a strenuous, but doable hike with approximately 1,100 feet of elevation gain. 

    What to bring: Sturdy hiking shoes and comfortable exercise/hiking attire, water, snacks, and sunscreen. (Also recommended: a day pack and the 10 essentials of hiking!)
