Archeology is the study of the tangible remains of human societies. While some may think of archeology as the study of exotic people in exotic places, the vast majority of archeology explores the history of ordinary people. This web site provides an opportunity to learn more about the role the National Park Service plays in the excavation, preservation, and management of archeological resources in the Washington, D.C. area — the National Capital Region (NCR).
