Description
Harriet Tubman is best known for her role as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, but did you know she was also a naturalist? Brittany Lane, lead ranger at Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, will join Montezuma Audubon Center educators to give a presentation on how Harriet Tubman used the natural world to lead enslaved people to freedom. Following the presentation, Montezuma Audubon educators will lead a mile-long guided night hike where visitors will learn some of the same skills Harriet used, such as astronomy, bird calls, and native plant identification.
