New Orleans JAZZ NHP’s Song o’ the Day:
“Bluebells Goodbye”
Oh my, how colorful the 28th day of April has proven to be! This questionable quest to correlate Park recordings to current and recurrent occurrences has yielded a colorful collection of coincidences. Today is:
National Go Orange Day – Part of Workzone Awareness Week, wear safety orange to promote worksite safety and remembrance of injured workers.
National Blueberry Pie Day – The berry harvest begins in April & this day is devoted to the two best things one may do with those little blue bundles of natural goodness: bake ‘em & eat ‘em up!
National Denim Day – Of course you instinctively think of “blue jeans” whenever denim comes to mind. This day was instituted to combat victim blaming and educate us about sexual violence.
Past April 28th ‘ s have also brought us: Announcement of a human vaccine for Yellow Fever in 1932, in 1952 the St. Louis Browns loaned 2 black minor leaguers to Hankyu Braves of Japan, Frank Robinson hit his first of 586 home runs in 1956, as a rookie for the Columbia Reds, in 1969 King Crimson debuted with Greg Lake and Ian McDonald, the Brewers beat the Blue Jays 22-2 with AL record 31 hits in 9 innings and in 1934 the Soccer team Blue White '34 was formed (I have no idea what that means!).
So, in celebration of such a color-imbued day, I shall now proceed to don my orange vest and best blue jeans before engorging on blueberry pie and having to loosen said jeans. Goodbye blueberry pie…
