Description

January 17, 2024 marks the 131st anniversary of the coup enacted against Queen Liliʻuokalani. In an attempt to maintain peace and order throughout her country, the Queen yielded her authority, under protest, to the United States until a time where the US Government would "undo the action of its representatives and reinstate me (Liliʻuokalani) in the authority which I claim as the Constitutional Sovereign of the Hawaiian Islands."

Join us at 1pm in the Puʻukoholā Heiau NHS Visitor Center on Friday 1/19 and Saturday 1/20 for the next Ranger Talk Series presentation, highlighting events around the 1893 coup, the insurgents involved, and the lasting impact still felt in Hawaiʻi today.

All Ranger Talks are FREE and open to everyone! Come learn Hawaiʻi history at one of the most historic sites across the pae ʻāina!
