Description
New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park presents the Shannon Powell Quartet. Shannon Powell, a highly sought after drummer and percussionist, has achieved international acclaim for his commanding technique and style, rooted in the characteristic funky drum beats of New Orleans. As a youth growing up in New Orleans' storied Faubourg Tremé, home to many of the city's jazz performers, Powell was always surrounded by music and you can hear those influences in the way he plays on every performance. For the audience that may be visually challenged, the performance space contains wood paneling on the walls, various rugs on the floor, and recording equipment spaced throughout to capture the concert. The band is spaced evenly within the space with Shannon leading the show from behind his drum set. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the funky jazz that is about to come your way!
