Description

National Trails Day is an annual event hosted by the American Hiking Society which celebrates not only national scenic and historic trails, but all trails on public lands. Here is what we will have going on in Shenandoah:

Come say hi to our NPS Trails Crews at the visitor center at Big Meadows! They will be stationed outside at a table with some of their everyday tools and information about what they do.

Volunteer to help keep our trails clean and enjoyable with a fun volunteer project! We will be hosting a small trail clean-up, meeting out front of the visitor center at Big Meadows. You must RSVP to corrina_wendel@nps.gov to attend and receive additional details.

Go on a hike with Ranger Karl! The hike will begin on the Passamaquoddy Trail in the Skyland area of Shenandoah National Park! The meeting place will be at the Stony Man parking lot (mile 41.5 on Skyline Drive) at 10 a.m. The ranger will walk you through some interesting facts about the history of Shenandoah National Park and the trails within! Please wear closed-toed shoes and be prepared for a moderate 3.4-mile hike with 700 feet of elevation gain that will take approximately 2.5 hours. Bring at least 2 liters of water for each member of your group. No RSVP needed.
