Description
Who was Ida Saxton McKinley? What did she do as first lady and why?
You can think about these questions and more as a knowledgeable park ranger and ASL interpreter guide you through the former home of Ida and William McKinley. Through learning the story of this former first lady, you'll be able to understand the difficult and public position of first ladies.
This guided tour of the Saxton House leaves from the Visitor Center at 12:30pm. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours. Tours have a capacity of fifteen people per tour and reservations are required. Please call 440-717-3749 or email fila_info@nps.gov for a reservation. You do not have a reservation until you receive a confirmation email or call from a park ranger.
The tour does require standing for long periods and moving from room to room. The Saxton House is accessible for wheelchairs.
The Saxton House is by guided tour only. The Visitor Center is self-guided.
