National Public Lands Day
Since 1994, National Public Lands Day (NPLD) has mobilized volunteers on the fourth Saturday in September to celebrate and care for something we all share—our nation’s public lands. This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023!
NPLD is more than just a clean-up—it's a chance to connect with new communities, enjoy outdoor activities, and support physical and mental health. It's also an opportunity to use our public lands for education, recreation, and environmental conservation.
At Bryce Canyon, volunteers can participate in:
- Painting fences, fire hydrants, benches, etc.
- Picking up litter
- Closing social trails
- Special projects by arrangement
Volunteers should bring:
- Water
- Snacks
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent (though bugs are typically mild)
A limited number of free campsites may be available to volunteers.
Each volunteer will get a fee-free entry pass to federally managed public lands good for up to one year from our event.
