On America’s 250th birthday, uncover new insights into George Washington’s earliest years as we share discoveries from ongoing research at George Washington Birthplace National Monument. Chief of Cultural Resource Management Kerry González will present “Buried in the Back: Recent Research at George Washington Birthplace National Monument,” highlighting evidence that is reshaping our understanding of this historic landscape.

As part of this research reveal, attendees will also view conceptual interior and exterior renderings of George Washington’s birth home. These visualizations, grounded in new archaeological and historical analysis, offer a glimpse into how the site may have appeared during Washington’s childhood and new perspectives on the life of one of the nation’s founding families.

As we reflect on 250 years of American independence, we invite you to look deeper into a formative place and story that shaped one of the country’s most indispensable figures.

This presentation begins at 2 p.m. in the park’s Log House.
