Description
About the workshop: We will be creating a portrait/ life drawing. Through close observation and artistic response, participants will build a strong foundation in drawing using charcoal and soft pastel by practicing fundamental drawing techniques while exploring light and value, line and shape, foreshortening and composition.
About the artist: Gwendolyn Lanier is a visual artist who creates figurative art depicting female experience through narratives that challenge preconceived notions of reality. In 2009, Lanier received her BFA from School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University, and was the recipient of the Albert Pratt Travelling Grant which enabled her to study ceramic figurative art in Florence, Italy. Gwendolyn Lanier’s work has been displayed at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, the Painted Bride in Philadelphia, and other venues on both the east and west coasts. She is currently a studio artist at the Brush Art Gallery and Studios in Lowell and an artist member at the Attleboro Arts Museum.
