Lantern Light Tours

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

Reservations: Visitors must stay in their vehicle until five minutes before their tour begins. Tours are by RESERVATION ONLY. You must make your reservation by 4:30 pm the day of the tour. Walk-ins and on-site reservations will not be accepted after 4:30 pm.

Tours:  The event is NOT wheel-chair accessible. Tour takes one hour, and the tour is one-mile round trip. Face masks must be worn during the tour. The event requires social distancing from staff, volunteers, and other visitors. 

 

Tickets: $5.00 

 

Event: Grab a lantern and stroll along the luminary lined path from the visitor center to the Great Temple Mound. Join interpretive talks at the bridge, Earth Lodge, Trading Post, and Great Temple Mound sites. Step back in time to meet costumed characters with ties to Ocmulgee’s history. Learn about the 17,000 year history of Ocmulgee and the people who lived here.  See Downtown Macon illuminated at night from the top of the Great Temple Mound.

Dates: 3/19, 3/20, 3/26, & 3/27 Time: Gates open at 7:00 pm. Tours begin at 7:30 pm and leave every 15 minutes. Limited to only 10 people per tour. Last tour leaves at 8:45 pm. Park gates close at 8:40 pm. All visitors must leave the park by 9:45 pm.
