Description

Coffee Talk at Kahuku: Lashing, Cordage, Waʻa.

James Akau , life-long Ka’ū community member, sailor, and ʻāina enthusiast, will share his knowledge of Hawaiian cordage and how it was used for lashing on Hawaiian waʻa (outrigger canoes). James has been a ship engineer and scientific diver. He is passionate about the cultural use of canoes and how to overcome barriers of access in our modern day.
