Outdoor Exhibit- William Beckett: From Linnaean Hill to the Library of Congress

Rock Creek Park

Special Event
  • Every day at Sunrise from April 16, 2025 to May 31, 2025
  • Free

Last year, the Friends Of Peirce Mill and Rock Creek Park created a temporary exhibit about the remarkable life of William Beckett, the enslaved man who once managed Joshua Peirce's nursery business on Linnaean Hill. Today, Linnaean Hill, known as Klingle Mansion, serves as Rock Creek Park headquarters. Through May 31, the Beckett exhibit is on view near Klingle Mansion, 3545 Williamsburg Lane NW in Rock Creek Park.

The mansion is a short but steep walk from Picnic Grove #1. There is limited parking near Klingle Mansion, but the building is not open to the public.

More information about William Beckett is on the Friends of Peirce Mill web site.
