Description

To celebrate National Public Lands Days, the National Capital Region- Invasive Plant Management Team and National Capital Parks-East are hosting an invasive plant removal event on Friday, September 16th at the entrance of Kingman and Heritage Islands Park along the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. This event is a volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines, and flowering plants. During the event, participants will learn how to identify and control several invasive plants that are threatening our natural communities. This event will improve the view of the water and provide habitat for native plants and animals to thrive. Help us restore and protect natural areas in our community by removing invasive plants!

Please wear sturdy shoes, pants, and a long-sleeve shirt. All supplies will be provided. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to particpate.
