Nose to the Grindstone: A Virginius Island Walk

Step on the bridge, cross over the Shenandoah Canal, and travel back in time with a ranger to explore the stories of the once bustling, industrial community of Virginius Island, turned a peaceful, natural oasis. On this flat interpretive walk, we will dive deep into what it was like to live and work on the island where the mighty Shenandoah River was both a gift and a curse.  Begins at the Green in historic Lower Town.
