Join Linda Russell, Balladeer and other musicians as they explore, perform and discuss civilian and military music of the mid 19th century
19th century Governors Island was a military base with both military and civilian residents. It was also the home of the U.S. Army’s field music school .
These entertainers will talk about and play the music from both army andcivilian life, and explore how they overlap.
Music in Fort Jay will be played throughout the day with a formal talk/performance at 12PM and 2PM
