Description

Thirty Days of Stories on the Underground Railroad is a series of podcasts series created in celebration of September as International Underground Railroad Month. The Oldham County History Center is celebrating by recording a podcast story on the Underground Railroad to broadcast each day of September.

Slavery and Court Records is read by Kentucky State Representative and Speaker of the House, David W. Osborne.

The Oldham County History Center has two sites on the National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.  One of those sites is in the Oldham County History Center archives (J.C. Barnett Library and Archives) which contains court records on enslavement as well as family papers from James and Amanda Mount who were slave traders.  Rep. Osborne reads some of the court cases and family papers from the history center collection that describe slave holding actions and how enslavement operated on a local level.
