Description
Hike with a ranger to the historic First Baptist Church. Learn about the significance of the railroad branch line known as Rend, the opportunities it created, and the communities it supported. A moderate 1.6-mile round-trip hike with small elevation change.
Meet at the Rend Trailhead: Follow US Route 19 north of Beckley, take the Glen Jean-Thurmond exit. Take an immediate left and go 0.5 miles to Glen Jean. Take a right and follow the signs for Thurmond (WV 25). The trailhead is on the left, 5.1 miles down WV route 25.
