Join the National Trails Day celebration hosted by Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail at the C&O Canal National Historical Park.

8 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Go on a guided bike ride with our partners from the Rails to Trails Conservancy:

  • Join RTC’s Project Manager for the Great American Rail-Trail on an 18-mile ride on the C&O Canal Towpath, the eastern extent of the cross-country route.
  • Leave from the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center at 8 a.m. and head north towards Riley’s Lock before turning around and heading back to the start, returning around 10 a.m.
  • Learn about the Great American Rail-Trail and the C&O Canal Towpath’s importance along the route.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Visit tables and participate in activities provided by a number of our partner trails and organizations.
