What was it like to be a soldier getting ready to leave Valley Forge after six months of hardship, hard work, and training? Learn this and much more with a day of activities and programs at Artillery Park commemorating the 246th anniversary of the day the Continental Army left Valley Forge in June 1778 after a transformative encampment.

In the event of rain, most activities will take place inside the Visitor Center at Valley Forge and the black powder musket firing demonstrations will be canceled.

Location

Activities are located at the cannons of Artillery Park and spread along the gravel Baptist Trace road to the south of Gulph Road. In the event of rain, most activities will take place inside the Visitor Center at Valley Forge and the black powder musket firing demonstrations will be canceled.

Activities are ongoing from 10 AM to 3 PM at Artillery Park, with most presenters going on an hour break over lunchtime, however from 12 noon to 1 PM, living historian Ken Gavin will present a first-person portrayal of Colonel Oliver Spencer, the commander of an Additional Continental Regiment made up of New Jersey troops.
