Description

Visit the Visitor Center on Monday, February 20th, 10am-3pm, and look for the following:

• Meet the Washingtons! George and Martha will be present to welcome visitors to Valley Forge and share personal recollections of the encampment and their life together. Courtesy of Historic Philadelphia, Inc.

• Have a Birthday Cupcake! Volunteers will be distributing free cupcakes at the pavilion just outside the Visitor Center. Cupcakes are courtesy of the faculty and students of the Culinary School at Montgomery County Community College. (PLEASE NOTE: please eat the cupcakes outside or keep them in the container if you go back into the Visitor Center).

George Washington had little room for celebration in February 1778 with his army on the brink of dissolution. Today, in hindsight, we can recognize the importance of this time and the future successes Washington and his men would achieve. Struggles continue, and always will, but on this day, in this small way, we can reflect on where we’ve been, and how far we’ve come.

In case of inclement weather on Monday, February 20th, event will be held on Sunday the 19th or cancelled.
