Special Event
We can and should have an abundance of trails for walking, cycling and horseback riding, in and close to our cities.
—Lyndon Johnson, Special 1965 Message to the Congress on Conservation and Restoration of Natural Beauty, three years prior to signing into law the National Trails System Act of 1968
Help us celebrate National Trails Day!
What better way than to help maintain a trail in the park dedicated to the president who realized the benefits of having trails.
We are looking for volunteers to assist the park maintenance staff in replacing the wooden planks on the town creek bridge. The bridge leads off the trail that takes walkers into the Johnson Settlement, 1860s home of President Johnson's grandparents.
