Description

VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE

Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument and the National Woman's Party are proud to present Maureen Broy Papovich as she performs selections from her new song cycle THE ERA PROJECT, written in honor of her grandmother’s work fighting for the Equal Rights Amendment.

Broy Papovich will share the powerful story of her grandmother, Cecil Norton Broy, who lived and worked with Alice Paul on the ERA as political chairman of the National Woman’s Party. Together, Broy Papovich and composer Rain Nox collaborated to craft a new body of work, with six songs total, that speak to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment and the National Woman’s Party. Created for classical soprano and piano, the work highlights stories from the women’s movement, the ERA’s history, and its current status.
Maureen will be available for Q&A in the live premiere chat box on Facebook. Don't miss this fantastic 19th Amendment Centennial performance!
