Memorial Day Flag Placement - Chalmette National Cemetery

Registration to participate is required. Volunteers must sign up on volunteer.gov.

Over 15,300 troops who served in conflicts ranging from the War of 1812 to the Vietnam War are buried at Chalmette National Cemetery. Volunteers are needed to place flags at every headstone in the cemetery on Friday, May 22nd, beginning at 9 a.m.. On Tuesday, May 26th, volunteers are needed to remove the flags and respectfully retire and package them for storage.
