Come join park rangers and members of the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition for a night of stargazing and telescope viewing at the Lava Flow Trail amphitheater. 

Event Schedule:
7:30pm - 8:00pm - How can you help protect dark skies where you live? (ranger presentation)
8:00pm - 10:00pm - Independent Telescope Viewing (FDSC Volunteers)
8:15pm - 8:45pm - Celestial Celebrities on the Big Screen (Ranger presentation with a smart telescope projected on a screen)
9:00pm - 9:30pm - Arabian Constellations and Star Tour with Danielle Adams (FDSC)

Notes for safety and planning:

  • The Lava Flow Trail parking lot is 1.5 miles away from the Sunset Crater Volcano Visitor Center
  • The parking lot will be fully open.
  • Orange and red lights will be set up along sidewalks directing visitors to the amphitheater and bathrooms
  • If bringing a light source, please use red lights to help preserve everyone's night vision

Fees

There is no additional cost for this event. Regular entrance fees apply. Passes can be purchased at the entrance kiosk or visitor center from9:00am to 4:30pm or using an automated fee machine at the kiosk after 4:30pm. If you already have an America the Beautiful pass that covers your entrance fee. Please display either pass in your car during the event.
