Free. All programs offered by the National Lakeshore are free. Participants need only purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass displayed in their vehicle to join in the fun.

Plan to meet park rangers at 1 pm at the Phillip A. Hart Visitor Center for an introduction. From here, the group will caravan to the Bar Lake Road Trailhead.

Description

There's nothing more enjoyable than exploring the outdoors and doing a craft activity! Come and join park rangers to discover how Sleeping Bear Dunes’ trees survive the winter and help you create tree rubbings as keepsakes to remember this fun experience! This hike will be .5-1 mile in length. 

Plan to meet park rangers at 1 pm at the Phillip A. Hart Visitor Center for an introduction.  From here, the group will caravan to the Bar Lake Road Trailhead. Preregistration is NOT required.

Programs may be cancelled or the location may change due to snow conditions or winter temperatures.

The decision to cancel or change the location is made two hours in advance. Please call 231-326-4700, ext. 5005, for a voicemail message with the final details.

Programs should be assumed cancelled if Leelanau County or Benzie County are under a "Winter Storm Warning" issued by the National Weather Service.
