Description
October 12th is Migratory Bird Day!
Whether you are on vacation or going for a walk at your local park, birds are a beautiful and important part of our daily lives. Singing in trees, eating mosquitos and grasshoppers, or even just flying by- birds are charismatic and entertaining.
This Migratory Bird day the focus is on what many of our favorite feathered friends rely on to feed their young and to keep up energy on long migratory journeys: insects.
Protect Insects, Protect Birds.
A free guided walk will be offered in the morning, searching for both birds and insects along the way. Learn about how to find and identify different species of birds and insects, how important they are to natural and human ecosystems, and how we can protect them.
In the afternoon learn about common local insects and birds and then go out and draw one! Materials will be provided.
