Description

Curious about that strange plant you saw while walking in the woods? Wondering what bird is calling in your backyard? iNaturalist is an exciting tool you can use to identify species and contribute observations to a massive online database accessible to scientists around the world. Nathaniel Sharp, Vermont Center for Ecostudies’ Citizen Science Outreach Naturalist, will present an introduction to iNaturalist, from making an account, to identifying unknown species using the site's artificial intelligence algorithm. This presentation will then be followed by an outdoor iNaturalist workshop where you can test your newfound "iNat" skills - don't forget to bring your smartphone or laptop!

The Vermont Center for Ecostudies advances conservation of wildlife through research, monitoring, and citizen engagement. To learn more about their work visit vtecostudies.org.

Please dress appropriately for outdoor activity, and bring a water bottle if possible. Event continues rain or shine! Co-sponsored by Vermont Coverts and the Vermont Woodlands Association.
