Recognizing President's Day, William J. Cooper, Professor (Emerita) at Louisiana State University, explores the life and times of John Quincy Adams, who served a frustrating term as President in the 1820s, but had an enormous impact on American public life for nearly 50 years.  Dr. Cooper's talk will be based on themes from his book, "The Lost Founding Father: John Quincy Adams and the Transformation of American Politics".  President Adams and his wife Louisa Catherine visited St. Paul's in 1829 on a sad occasion  -- a funeral service for their troubled son George Washington Adams, who had drowned in nearby Long Island Sound.  This is a distance presentation, through shared platform.
