Description

Henry and Ian Nez - Diné Silversmiths

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday — March 18, 19, 20, 2025: 9 am to 4 pm each day.

  • Meet renown father and son silversmiths, Henry and Ian Nez as they demonstrate their jewelry-making techniques and share their Diné heritage at historic Desert View Watchtower.
  • Henry, who learned the craft from his uncle, has spent the past 27 years refining his own distinctive style. A master of silversmithing techniques, he is known for his intricately inlaid silver bracelets and rings featuring natural stones.

  • Stop by to watch Henry and Ian bring their artistry to life as they create rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets from start to finish.
  • The Cultural Demonstration program provides an opportunity for park visitors and community members to interact with Indigenous artisans and educators - and for them to share their cultural history and stories, along with the skills and knowledge involved in creating their art.
  • This series is made possible with grants from Grand Canyon Conservancy.
