Live Wax Cylinder Recording with Blaine Miller & the Matt Lemmler Quartet

New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park

Special Event
  • Apr 6, 2024 at 12:00 PM
  • Free

Recorded sound has been around since 1877 and invented by Thomas Edison.  Home recording was available early on in the ragtime era and was used by professionals and home users of the phonograph.  This equipment still produces simple wax recordings and Blaine Miller will demonstrate with original period equipment and wax cylinders with our participating musicians. Hear ragtime as it was originally recorded at the turn of the century.
