Thursday, May 18, 2023, will mark the centennial of the American Institute of Architects ceremony presenting Henry Bacon, the architect of the Lincoln Memorial, with the prestigious A.I.A gold medal. This was the first in a long line of significant public events to be held at Lincoln Memorial and it may have been the most unusual.
